Know Canada Study Visa Requirements – Superior Immigration

There are two different categories for obtaining a Canada Study Visa. One is SDS (Student Direct Stream) and the other is non SDS. The Canada Study Visa success rate for the SDS stream is double as compared to the Non SDS stream.

Canada Study Visa Requirements:

  • Letter of Acceptance from a Post Secondary Designated Learning Institution (DLI).

The student must receive an LOA from a designated Learning Institute. As per new Guidelines by IRCC, Post Secondary DLIs are required to verify the Letter of acceptance of prospective student and submit their overseas study permit application to ensure that the letter is authentic. This enhanced verification process aims to protect prospective students from letter of acceptance fraud and will also ensure that the Canada Study Visa are only issued based on a Genuine Letter of Acceptance.

  • Official College Fee Receipts that indicate that you have paid full first-year Tuition fees.

Students should have official Tuition fee receipts from the college as proof of payment.

  • Guaranteed Investment Certificate in amount $20,635 CAD required for Canada Study Visa

Effective from 1st Jan 2024 the student should have $20,635 in his/her GIC account. This will count as a cost of living. The international student will receive the GIC amount back in instalments. These instalments vary from Bank to bank. If we talk about CIBC Bank. The student will receive CAD 6200 at the time of arrival in Canada. The rest of the amount will be given to students with $1313 amount with 11 instalments.

  • Recent Education Transcripts

Students must provide Genuine Educational Documents to the embassy as they might request prospective schools, colleges and Universities to verify their records. Avoid using fake Diploma and Degrees to cover the gap between your studies.

For an International student, the student must be in good health.

    As per new rules, the IRCC approves 4 English proficiency tests for Canada for Student Direct Stream (SDS). These tests are:

    PCC is used to check student,s criminal record. A police clearance certificate is considered valid for 6 months.

International Students can find it difficult to get accommodate, as per today’s scenario. But there are a lot of sites where they can find housing near to their college, university and their work. The average rent for accommodation is lie $500 to $2000. It also depends on the accommodation that you chose. Students can find accommodation for rent on kijiji, UniAcco, padmapper, etc.

Transportation:

Post Graduation Work Permit:

PGWP is known as Post Graduation Work Permit. A student is eligible for PGWP only if they successfully completed his/her study from a Public DLI approved Institution in Canada. Students also have to check their completed program to be eligible for PGWP. Students can verify it from the official website of Canada. The duration of the PGWP is depends on the study that you completed. To get PGWP students are advised to not let their status expire. Then they might face problems if you are out to status.

You have two choices if your study permit expires before you receive your grades. You may choose to obtain a visitor record to extend your stay in Canada, or depart the country and apply for your PGWP. If you choose to remain in Canada after your permit expires, you will need to apply for your PGWP in order to regain your student status. However, the Marc Miller Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship of Canada has announced new updates for Study Permit applications on 22nd January 2024. In which he made new changes for International Students work permits after Graduation. PGWP is no longer available to students at any public private partership colleges. Now, students must complete their study in Public College and Universities and the duration of the study should be at least 8 months or longer to get PGWP.

Not meeting Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s (IRCC) eligibility requirements is one of the main causes of PGWP denials. This includes failing to finish a prescribed learning program or failing to study full-time as needed.

Furthermore, verify that your passport will be valid throughout the whole period for which you should be qualified. If your passport expires before our PGWP will only be valid for the duration of your passport; if an extension is required to receive the full validity, we will notify you.
